Description

Shackles are an extremely useful piece of equipment and can be utilized for many types of lifting applications; they are generally used as a connector between different equipment, such as connecting a sling to a hoist or for connecting two lengths of chain. APPLICATIONS:

Shackles are used in lifting operations in most industries from small workshops to huge manufacturing plants, their uses are vast. They are commonly utilized as a removable link to connect wire rope, chain and web slings, with options to use with single leg or multi-leg slings. Ideal for crane operations.

The two main securing types of shackle are bolt with safety pin type or standard screw pin type and are used for different purposes; a shackle with a safety bolt & pin offer more safety and are used for more long term or permanent applications or for lifting operations where the load may slide on the pin of a standard pin type shackle causing it to rotate out. A standard screw pin shackle is mainly used for non permanent applications, they are quicker to attach and often cheaper to purchase.

We can offer a wide range of bow and dee shackles, in various sizes and lifting capacities to suit the application it will be used for.

The safe working load lifting capacities range from 0.33 tonne to 55 tonne, so there is a wide range for you to choose from to suit your needs. They are supplied to British and European standards.

DESIGN:

There are two main types of shackle, Bow type and Dee type which refer to their shape. A Dee shackle is mainly used on one leg sling systems and bow shackles are mainly used on multi leg slinging systems.

Shackles used for lifting applications are usually stamped with the following marks to specify the quality and safety of use of the shackle.

  • Steel grade  (i.e. 4,6,8)
  • Working load limit  (i.e. WLL 25t)
  • CE conformity (CE, conformity European indicating the product is suitable for lifting purposes.
  • Traceability code (i.e. H, pertaining to the manufacturer’s identity or batch.)

All our shackles meet all applicable requirements including the machinery directive 98/37/EC.

FINISH:

We can supply any type of shackle finished in a variety of different means:
