Warehouse Cranes – a Wide Variety of Applications

Warehouses have one of the greatest needs for lifting equipment among the hundreds of industries in the world. They are built for the storing and moving of millions of loads, all different in shapes and sizes. Here’s just some of the wide variety of applications of warehouse cranes.

The movement of loads with warehouse cranes

The primary use for cranes in warehouses is to help move loads around. Whether this is to store them, lift them up or take them down, warehouses are a hub of activity when it comes to the constant movement of loads.

Cranes help to make this process completely seamless, as well as safe too. With cranes of all different sizes and lifting abilities, warehouses can operate in several ways at once when it comes to the movement of loads.

The movement of people with warehouse cranes

Cranes also help to move people in warehouses too! Some warehouses are extremely tall in nature, and it’s not uncommon for workers to need to reach these heights to continue with their jobs.

Cranes help to get millions of items and products around warehouses every single day

With equipment such as safety access platforms, workers can safely be lifted up to tall heights to further aid the smooth running of the warehouse.

Operating in confined spaces

While some warehouses are huge, as we mentioned above, some warehouses may be small or have tight, confined spaces. Some cranes, such as articulated jib cranes or underslung overhead cranes, have been designed to operate in smaller spaces.

The former has a bend in the middle of its arm (much like a bendy bus), allowing it to lift and lower around corners, while the latter is built for warehouses with low ceilings and operating room.

Aiding with transportation

While the primary function of a warehouse is the storing of goods and loads, these objects will need to be moved eventually for transportation! Cranes, such as overhead cranes, help to move loads out from the warehouse and into transportation vehicles, or vice versa.

The movement of equipment

As well as the warehouse loads, equipment used in the warehouse itself will need to be moved around safely too. The same cranes that are used for the safe moving of the loads can also be used for this equipment as well.
